Progress Discussions Monday 20th March

School is closed for instruction. We look forward to seeing you and your child tomorrow for your progress discussion appointment.

Please come to the meeting on time with your child. The classroom teacher will facilitate the discussion but your child will do a lot of the talking. As a parent, you can prompt to support your child, enjoy the opportunity to see your child in his/her learning environment, and celebrate your child’s progress to date.

Progress Discussions Monday

A reminder that Monday is Progress Discussion day. This is the opportunity to celebrate the progress your child has made to date this year, and to build learning relationships between school and home.

So far 496 bookings have been made- awesome! Please be on time for your appointment and don’t forget to bring your child!

If you are yet to book a discussion please follow the guide sent out or contact us directly.

Parent-teacher-student ‘Progress Discussions’ will be held on Monday 20th March from 9am to 6pm, which is a Teacher Only Day. Interviews can be booked with your child’s classroom teacher and also their Pathways teacher. There are two options being offered: an in-person interview or a Google Meet video call.

To book your interviews, go to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code, and enter the event code r2mez.

We encourage you to make appointments with both your child’s classroom teacher as well as their Pathways teacher as each teacher will have different information, perspectives, and positives to share. You will need to click on ‘add another booking’ to do this, once you have made an initial booking.

Teacher’s strike Thursday 16th March

Dear parents/ caregivers,

On Thursday, 16 March 2023 all members covered by the PTCA or PPCA will be on strike from 7am until 7 pm. This means that schools across Aotearoa NZ will be closed.

Members have voted to strike because our tamariki deserve a quality education. Unfortunately, the funding for our schools is not enough for Principals and teachers to consistently provide the support all our students need, in order to achieve the intended engagement and progress in their learning.

More resourcing would also attract and retain people in the education sector, by ensuring that teaching is recognised as a valued and attractive profession.

We recognise that this action is inconvenient and that there has been minimal notice. Please be assured that the action our union is taking is for the long-term benefit to the quality of education being provided for all students in Aotearoa NZ.

NZEI Paid Union Meeting (PUM) on Monday 27th February 2023. School Closes 1pm – Free Mufti Day

Dear parents/caregivers,

Teachers from across Rotorua will be attending an NZEI Paid Union Meeting (PUM) on Monday 27th February 2023. As a result, we will be closed for instruction at 1pm. At this time, students will be released from school. 

If you require supervision for your child until 2.45pm we are happy to accommodate you. Please register by contacting the school office at 348 9888, emailing reception@rotorua-intermediate.org.nz, or by letting your child’s classroom teacher know before the 27th. 

Due to the RPA Gabrielle Cyclone Mufti day today where we raised $727.50 thank you so much for your efforts.  We will be having a free mufti day on Monday 27 February to coincide with the NZEI Paid Union Meeting (PUM) on Monday 27th February 2023, where we close at 1pm for instruction.

EAST COAST APPEAL: Supporting whanau affected by Cyclone Gabrielle: 

Rotorua Intermediate are putting together a collection to support the communities affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. 

If you would like to contribute, please send your koha to our Rotorua Intermediate school office and we will pack it and get it on to the trucks. 

Anything you can contribute would be appreciated from food to bedding etc

In particular items needed are 
Toilet paper
Toiletries
Sanitary items
Cleaning goods
Baby goods (formula, nappies, baby food etc)

Please send items in by Wednesday 22nd February. 

Pop up canteen Thursday 16 February. Mini pizzas $4, raising money for sport at RI.
